CHADA
About
The foundation of the CHADA (CHAracterisation DAta) is based on an ontology of materials characterisation, called CHAMEO. The latter has been used to inform the CEN Workshop Agreement, CWA 17815 “Materials characterisation — Terminology and structured documentation”.
The objective of this CWA was to provide a standard set of categories, metadata and terminology that form the basis for documentation of materials characterisation. It covers the most wide-ranging interpretation of “materials characterisation”, including the whole range of processes by which the structure and properties of a material, or even a system of materials, are ascertained.
CHADA Overview
The CHADA provides modular templates to support a structured documentation of materials characterisation. It consists of four sections:
- User Story
- Rationale
- Characterisation Workflow documentation including
- Diagram and
- Workflow Tables, and
- Outcome
If needed, the CHADA can be expanded with more detail.
For diagrams in the CHADA, a recommendation is to use the BPMN 2.0 notation.
Example CHADAs and diagrams can be found and should be published on Zenodo, in the EMMC community.
CHADA introduction training module is available on Zenodo.
