Title
Generating machine-readable workflow diagrams with mochada_kit
Tuesday, November 25, 2025 | 14.30-15.15 CET | Online
Speaker: Dr Thomas G. Woodcock, IFW Dresden, Germany
Topic

Project MaMMos will demonstrate how workflow diagrams can convey concise information on magnetic multiscale modelling and characterisation workflows. Their Python code, mochada_kit, helps users to generate workflow diagrams for MODA and CHADA. A standardised terminology improves exchanges among experts in the entire area of materials modelling and materials characterisation, and facilitates the exchange with industrial end-users and experimentalists. The demonstration comprises topics from the magnetic materials domain, but can be applied to materials research in general.
Target group
This demonstration is for everyone who is interested in using MODA and CHADA and appreciates software to aid with the construction of a workflow diagram. Especially technical project managers, data stewards and principal investigators who are looking into logging and/or exchanging workflow data may be interested in this demonstration. We are welcoming participants from academia, research and technology organisations and industry.
Prior reading
Before attending, we strongly recommend to familiarise yourselves with MODA and CHADA, if they are unknown to you. You can find information here.
Goal
At the end of this demonstration, you will:
- … have an insight into a standardised way of creating workflows for materials modelling and characterisation
- … be able to access mochada_kit for generating workflow diagrams
- … be able to identify uses for mochada_kit in your work.
Registration
Registration requires at least associate membership which is free of charge.
