The aim of this domain is to cover a range of topical applications in energy conversion & storage. To start with we focus on batteries, in particular photovoltaics, with other energy storage methods to come (e.g. Redox flow batteries).
Battery Modelling Expert Group
Europe has a number of collaborative initiatives and groups to try and bring about closer working relationships, research development, policy advances and best practice in the battery field, through alliances, policy groups and research projects. These initiatives include the European Battery Alliance, The Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA) and BATT4EU partnership, the Faraday Institution, Battery2030+ and BATT-BRIDGE, among others. The EMMC Battery Modelling Expert Group complements these efforts by gathering a trusted modelling community that spans the research and industry space.
In order to organise the space in a way that is meaningful to industrial applications, experts and capabilities are associated with particular types of battery and the related materials and device manufacturing and testing stages, shown below for the case of typical Lithium-ion (or Sodium-ion etc) manufacturing.
