The 6th EMMC International Workshop 2027 will take place in the historic city of Leuven, Belgium, from 20–22 April 2027. Leuven is centrally located in Europe and benefits from excellent transport connections, making it easily accessible for participants travelling from across Europe and overseas.
The city is situated approximately 25 kilometres east of Brussels and is directly connected to Belgium’s rail network. International visitors can conveniently reach Leuven by air via Brussels Airport or by high-speed rail services connecting Belgium with neighbouring countries.

Arriving by Air
Brussels Airport (BRU)
Brussels Airport is the closest international airport and offers frequent connections to destinations throughout Europe and worldwide.
A direct train service connects Brussels Airport with Leuven Railway Station approximately every 15–20 minutes. The journey takes around 15 minutes, making rail travel the most convenient option for workshop participants.
Taxi services are available directly outside the arrivals terminal, while several car rental providers also operate at the airport.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL)
Participants arriving via Brussels South Charleroi Airport can travel to Leuven using airport shuttle services combined with train connections from Brussels.
Depending on arrival time, this journey typically takes between 90 and 120 minutes.
Additional recommendations will be provided before the workshop.
Travelling by Train
Leuven is one of Belgium’s most important railway hubs and is served by regular national and international train services.
International travellers arriving from Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne or London can easily connect via Brussels before continuing to Leuven.
Leuven Railway Station is located within walking distance of the historic city centre and offers convenient access to the workshop venue, hotels and restaurants.
Local Transport
Leuven is well known for being a compact and highly walkable city.
Most hotels, restaurants and cultural attractions are located within a short walking distance of the workshop venue. Public buses and taxis are available throughout the city, while bicycles are also a popular way of getting around.
Participants staying in the city centre are unlikely to require additional transportation during the workshop.
Accommodation
Leuven offers accommodation for every budget, ranging from modern business hotels to charming boutique hotels located in historic buildings.
Since the workshop takes place during spring, participants are encouraged to book accommodation well in advance to secure their preferred hotel.

Martin’s Klooster
Located inside a beautifully restored historic building, Martin’s Klooster combines modern comfort with the atmosphere of old Leuven. The hotel is only a short walk from the workshop venue and many of the city’s restaurants and cafés.
