We would like to welcome Materials Center Leoben Forschung GmbH as EMMC ASBL Organisational Member

MCL LogoWe joined the EMMC ASBL as we want to contribute to materials modelling standards and extend our knowledge on this topic for an improved interoperability of data in the European materials modelling community.

We, the Materials Center Leoben Forschung GmbH, are a research institute with about 180 employees situated in Styria, Austria and see ourselves as a link between academia and industry. The simulation department has about 60 employees and focuses on Computational Product Reliability, Digital Manufacturing Processes and Computation Materials Design. MCL provides services, is coordinator and partner in numerous national and international research projects and it is the coordinator of the  COMET K2 Competence Center on Integrated Computational Materials, Process and Product Engineering (IC-MPPE), one of five currently running Austrian COMET K2 competence centers. Activities include advanced material characterization and testing as well as the use of sophisticated computer models, algorithms and software to model, digitize and virtualize materials design, processes, and product applications. The MCL aims to rigorously integrate theoretical foundations, the latest validated calculation methods and key technologies to support material-based innovation. Furthermore, the MCL focuses on simultaneous material, process and product development, cost efficiency, quality, material and energy savings as well as the digitization of production chains. In order to support those aims, the MCL collaborates with numerous research and industrial partners.

Expected benefits, synergies, connections ...

We hope to increase our own expertise, find partners for future projects, and further the European materials modelling network and its connection and impact on industry. We believe that materials modelling and innovation will be a key in solving today’s challenges like the “Green Transition”. In order to be fast and excellent the materials modelling community has to join forces.
