Abstract

Meeting safe and sustainable by design materials and tools

The IRISS project aims to connect, synergize and transform the Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design community in Europe and globally towards a lifecycle approach, with a holistic integration of safety, climate neutrality, circularity and functionality already in an early stage of designing and manufacturing materials, products and processes.

The presentation will summarize the mapping activities carried out in terms of criteria and tools used by research community, concerning safe by design, sustainable by design, lifecycle assessment, circular economy and skills needs.

In the presentation, it will be highlighted the need of using common ontologies in the materials characterization and modelling, and it will be presented the OntoCommons demonstrator about i-TRIBOMAT EU project, on tribological characterization.
