The European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC) invites you to an on-line workshop

"Capabilities of Materials Modelling"
22 June 2022, 10:00 – 12:00 CEST

Scope

Materials modelling has become an integral part of industrial research and development. Predictive models based on fundamental laws of physics, highly sophisticated software tools, and unprecedented compute power are providing detailed understanding of materials properties, mechanisms, and processes. Given the complexity of typical materials problems in domains such as alloys, composite materials, electronic and optical devices, batteries, and catalysis, often the question is raised: “What are the actual capabilities, reliability, and practical value of materials modelling?”.

The EMMC provides a unique and unbiased, pre-competitive forum with the mission to enable the European industries, and, not at least small and medium-sized companies, to fully benefit from this increasingly important part of materials research, development, and engineering.

Purpose

In this context, the purpose of this workshop is:

  • to present a plan for activities to demonstrate the capabilities of simulation to industry,
  • to provide initial ideas for industry-relevant demonstrator cases and their intended use,
  • and, most importantly, to collect ideas from the participants for additional demonstrator cases.

By participating in this workshop, you will contribute to formulating demonstrator cases of relevance to your organisation. By interacting with colleagues and peers, you will gain a broader perspective of the potential of materials modelling while also expanding your network.

Organisation

EMMC ad-hoc working group on Demonstration

  • Anne de Baas (AnnedeBaasMaterialsResearch, BE)
  • Erich Wimmer (MaterialsDesign, FR)
  • Ilian Todorov (STFC, UK)
  • Kersti Hermansson (UU, SE)
