Policy

The RoadMap recognises the importance of making advances in materials modelling and digitalisation of materials sciences to support the competitiveness of European industry. It strives to identify shortcomings and barriers in current approaches and proposes actions to address them based on rich input and discussions between the various stakeholder communities in order to support the Research and Innovation Policy dialogues.

It acknowledges the significant progress that has been made over the past years, but equally identifies gaps, and provides direction for achieving the ultimate vision of: Having an agile European materials industry with intelligent enterprises that maximise and integrate the utility of digital materials sciences knowledge.

This main strategic document is aimed at assisting multiple stakeholders (Modellers, Materials Data Scientists, Software Owners, Translators and Manufacturers) that are identified in the diverse and rich ecosystem that develops and utilises models to accomplish more efficient and effective innovation of chemicals and materials and their integration into new products.

EMMC aims to improve integration of different materials modelling stakeholder communities, support the communication and networking and raise awareness on materials modelling and digitalisation in industry.

Objectives

  • regularly update the EMMC Roadmap based on wide stakeholder consultations
  • support the policy dialogues and complementary activities of strategic planning
  • build a discussion platform for the broad modelling community involving all stakeholders
  • identify and link with European and International existing programs, projects and initiatives
  • elaborate strategy for EMMC communication and dissemination
